Warning: Your TV might be listening

(NBC News) – Be careful what you say around your Samsung Smart TV or even someone else’s TV.

In the small print of Samsung’s privacy policy, the company warns that the voice recognition feature on its Smart TV can capture your spoken words, including personal conversations and the information will be among other data passed on to third parties.

The feature normally captures voice commands to improve your viewing experience.

Samsung says data is only shared if consumers consent, and if they turn on the voice feature.

How do you know if the voice feature is on?

A Samsung spokeswoman says users are able to recognize that the feature is activated because a microphone icon appears on the screen.
