Washburn hoops splits with Central Oklahoma

Washburn men's basketball earns a victory over Central Oklahoma 71-65 at Lee Arena.

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Washburn men’s basketball knocked down 11 3-pointers and held off Central Oklahoma to win 71-65. The Ichabods were led by Kyle Wiggins who scored 19 points. David Salach added 13 points off the bench, while Andy Wilson and Kevin House each finished with 11 points and made three treys a piece.

The Washburn women’s basketball team trailed by as many as 21 points to Central Oklahoma in the second half and could not complete the comeback at Lee Arena. The Ichabods fell 75-64 and dropped to (7-8) in the MIAA. Taylor Ignoto had 21 points and Casyn Buchman scored 20 for Washburn in a losing effort.

Washburn is home again on Saturday to take on Northeastern State. The women’s game begins at 5 p.m. followed by the men’s contest at 7 p.m.
