COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Political veteran Jason Perkey, who served as executive director of the Democratic Party in Kansas for the past two years, is the new executive director of the South Carolina Democratic Party.
State Party Chair Jaime Harrison announced Perkey’s hiring Friday.
He’s a graduate of Coker College in Hartsville and has a law degree from Vermont Law School.
Perkey has also worked on campaigns for federal, state and local offices in Kentucky, Illinois and Virginia. He is currently president of the Association of State Democratic Executive Directors.
Perkey replaces Amanda Loveday as state party executive director. She resigned last year to work for Democratic U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn.
