TOPEKA (KSNT) — Snow may be on the way this weekend, but things are heating up at the Kansas Expocentre.
Every year the latest and greatest in home improvements are available at the Topeka Home Show, and this year is no exception.
Consumers are excited about new technologies from businesses like Kansas Security that allow them to control the temperature and security of their home with just the touch of a button from their mobile device, but it doesn’t stop there.
Energy efficient and high tech, those are the buzz words at this year’s Topeka Home Show.
“This is like being at a science fair there’s so many new things to look at,” one attendee noted.
New bathtubs, entertainment systems, and alternative energy for your home are all options now available to consumers.
Jeff and Jani Amrein attend the show every year looking for new ideas and inspiration.
“We’re here to see some new technologies, and construction methods, we’d like to look at cabinetry, maybe some roofing solutions and also cabinet tops and counter tops,” said Jeff Amerin.
“Tech Top” technology is just one product that caught their eyes. It’s a special device is installed in the counter-top that allows you to charge your phone without any cords.
“The neat part is you can have it on your island in your kitchen, if you’re cooking and your phone dies or your tablet dies. You can also plug in your Kindle or your nook into the same technology,” said Lynda Fisher, Owner of the Countertop Shoppe.
She says consumers love that convenience.
“I would love to have that technology whether it be in my home or in my office,” said Jeff Amrein.
There are even more exciting new products just like that vendors will be featuring all weekend.
The Topeka home show will be open until 8:00 p.m. Friday and continues Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
