TOPEKA (KSNT) – As part of National School Breakfast Week, Kansas City Chiefs punter Dustin Colquitt stopped by Meadows Elementary School Wednesday morning.

He, along with other state and local education officials, had breakfast with the students. The Kansas Department of Education is highlighting some innovative school breakfast programs in the Sunflower State.

It’s an effort to increase the number of students eating breakfast at schools, including Grab-and-Go and Second Chance breakfasts, as well as serving breakfast in the classroom rather than the traditional cafeteria setting.

The breakfast push continues Thursday in Wichita and Friday in Olathe.
