Area teams punch ticket to sub-state championships

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Seaman and Shawnee Heights boys basketball both advanced with victories at home on Thursday night. The Vikings rallied to beat Highland Park 71-57, while the top-seed T-Birds had no problems with Leavenworth. Tez Scroggins led the way with 23 points for Shawnee Heights. Joe Miller and Reid Morgart each tallied 21 points for the Vikings as Seaman and Shawnee Heights meet Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the sub-state championship.

The Washburn Rural girls won its Class 6A sub-state semifinal matchup against Junction City. The Lady Blues host Derby on Saturday at 7 p.m.
