TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office reports three students were injured while on their way to Seaman High School Thursday morning.
At approximately 7:20 am, deputies responded to the accident at NW 50th and Topeka Boulevard. A white Chevy Impala, occupied by three Seaman High School students, was stopped at the stop sign on NW 50th, attempting to cross NW Topeka Boulevard.
A red Chevy Silverado driven by 45 year-old Amy Lewis, was traveling south in the 5000 block of NW Topeka Boulevard. The car failed to yield to the pickup truck and the vehicles collided in the intersection. Both vehicles came to rest in the south ditch of NW 50th.
The driver of the Chevy Impala was 17 year-old Mary-Jane A. Davison of Topeka. She sustained minor injuries. The two passengers in the car were 17 year-old Kayle A. Willis of Topeka, and 17 year-old Renne E. Correa of Topeka. Correa was extricated from the car by Soldier Township Fire Department personnel. Correa and Willis were transported to St. Francis Hospital by AMR with non-life threatening injuries. Lewis was not injured.
The accident is still under investigation.
