Topeka crews respond to structure fire Friday evening

TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Topeka Fire Department responded to a structure fire shortly before 7:15 Friday Friday evening at 3231 SW Sena Dr.

First arriving fire crews reported light smoke and flames visible from the front of the dwelling.  Further investigation by fire department personnel found one occupant of the dwelling had self-evacuated, but not before sustaining a mild case of smoke inhalation.  The occupant was treated at the scene and ultimately transported to a local hospital for evaluation of injuries.

The Topeka Fire Department says the fire was quickly extinguished..

Early investigation indicates the cause of the fire to be accidental, likely caused by careless disposal of smoking materials.

The estimated amount of damage is $30,000.
