Tornado touches down in Republic County

SCANDIA (KSNT) – A tornado ripped across north-central Kansas’ Republic County late Wednesday afternoon, leaving damage in its wake.

According to the county’s Emergency Manager, Raymond Raney, four homes were damaged, but no injuries were reported in any of them.

The Scandia Feedlot was also damaged with several head of cattle killed, but again, there were no injuries.

There was also damage to the roof of the Neskia Energy Ethanol plant.

For a while US 36 was closed because of downed power lines, but has since re=opened.
