FORT RILEY (KSNT) – Soldiers, Airmen, and civilian employees at Fort Riley will run to support the Special Olympics. The Torch Run takes off at noon on June 4 at the Ogden-Manhattan gate.

The annual event runs through 35 counties in Kansas this year as the “Flame of Hope” travels about 1,500 miles across the state.

The local leg of the run starts as Riley County police officers carry the torch from Manhattan to the Fort Riley Ogden-Manhattan gate, where officials from Fort Riley will receive the torch.

The 97th Military Police Battalion and Directorate of Emergency Services will carry the torch from the Ogden gate along Huebner Road to Grant Park in Junction City, where police department officers will receive the torch from Fort Riley.
