Kaw Valley Electric turning off power to Silver Lake temporarily

SILVER LAKE (KSNT) — Kaw Valley Electric will be shutting down power to 400-500 residences and businesses in Silver Lake today.

Expect power outages for the next 1-2 hours. This will be happening at time of publication.

A Kaw Valley Electric spokesperson tells KSNT News that someone broke into their power station at NW 35th and Landon and stole all their transformer grounds, so they have to shut down power to replace them. That person says that they were likely stolen for the value of the copper they are made with.
