Extreme heat moves into Northeast Kansas, sticks around this week

The hottest weather of the year will be on our doorsteps this afternoon. You’ve been warned. We’re tracking high temperatures to push 100° today, but it won’t even feel that cool. Heat index values (when you factor in the dew points – humidity) will range as high as 115°. In fact, our eastern counties (including Shawnee) are under an ‘EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING’ and a ‘HEAT ADVISORY’ is issued everywhere else. Today marks the start of consistent summer-like weather, for the first time this year.
