Royals extend winning streak to six, beat Blue Jays

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City Royals have now won six straight baseball games after defeating the Toronto Blue Jays 3-0 in the first game of their three-game weekend series at Kauffman Stadium.

Danny Duffy gets the win after pitching six innings of shutout baseball. He gave up four hits, and struck out three.

Alex Rios had an RBI double in the 2nd inning, and Alcides Escobar had an RBI single in the 5th inning.

The Royals then used all-stars Kelvin Herrera and Wade Davis in the 7th and 8th innings before bringing in Greg Holland to close out the game in the 9th.

Salvador Perez also hit a solo home run in 8th inning.

Kansas City improves to 18-games above .500 with a (51-33) record following the win.

The series continues at 1:10 p.m. on Saturday in Kansas City.
