TOPEKA (KSNT) — There was another fatal shooting in Topeka’s Hi-Crest neighborhood Saturday morning.
Police responded to the 3300 block of SE Humboldt around 11:46 a.m. on reports that there had been a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found one person who was struck by gunfire. The initial reports on the scanner were that one person was down in their yard and was bleeding from the mouth. Police told KSNT News the victim’s injuries were “definitely life-threatening.”
Topeka police said the victim, a black male, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.
Topeka Police identified the victim Monday as 45-year-old Antwon J Love.
Police were looking for a red Chevrolet Cavalier that had several unknown people in it and was seen leaving the scene of the shooting.
Police said Saturday night that the red car shown below had been located. They would like to thank the citizens for their assistance in locating the car.
Detectives were interviewing several witnesses at the Law Enforcement Center Saturday and treating the incident as a homicide investigation.
This is at least the sixth shooting in about two weeks for Hi-Crest.
