TOPEKA (KSNT) – Washburn Tech announced Friday that they are now an automotive technician training center for Fiat Chrysler automobiles.
The partnership makes Washburn Tech one of just ten such schools in the country.
The new program will allow Washburn Tech to train students to work for Fiat Chrysler dealerships throughout the region, particularly in Kansas.
“For the region, this part of the state of Kansas, we know that there is a huge number of positions open for auto technicians and we believe that this is one that brings dignity to the position, it brings professionalism to the position and it brings a certification to the position,” Washburn Tech Dean Clark Coco said.
The new program allows Washburn Tech to train an expected 5,000 additional skilled service technicians by 2018.
