Team USA comes back to win bronze medal at Pan Am Games

Toronto, Canada (KSNT) – The United States came back from a 13-point halftime deficit to the defeat the Dominican Republic 87-82 to win the bronze medal at the Pan American Games.

A day after an overtime loss to Canada in the semifinals, the United States started of sluggish, only scoring 15 points in the first quarter.

At the same time, Dominican Republic started off hot, hitting 63% of their shots in the first quarter to take an 11-point lead.

The Dominicans hot shooting ended after halftime, shooting only 36% percent after the midway point.

That allowed the United States to inch closer, using free throws as a way to claw back into the game.

The United states hit 17 free throws in the 2nd half compared to only shooting a single free throw in the first.

Team USA was led by Bobby Brown who scored 19 points in the medal game.

Wichita State player Ron Baker added 11 points, hitting 3 of 5 from downtown.

Former Jayhawk Keith Langford was not in uniform for unknown reasons.
