City Junior Golf Championship begins in Topeka

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Round one of the City Junior Championship began on Monday at Topeka Country Club. Some of the best junior golfers in the area tee’d off in the two-day, 36-hole tournament.

Leading the way on the boys side is Washburn Rural golfer, Parker Beal. He shot a 73 in his first round and has a ten-stroke lead heading into the final 18 holes.

On the girls side, two-time defending champion, Rachel Stous of Topeka High, is well on her way to a three-peat. She leads by nine strokes after shooting a 75 in her opening round.

The final round of the tournament will be played on Tuesday morning at Cypress Ridge Golf Course.
