TOPEKA (KSNT) – A man convicted of Medicaid fraud will have to pay more than $5,600 to the Kansas program.
Thirty-year-old Markeith Lowe of Kansas City, Kansas was order by Judge Michael A. Russell to pay $5,639.64 in restitution. Lowe was also sentenced to a year probation with an underlying sentence of seven months in prison and a year of post release supervision.
An investigation by the Kansas Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Division found that between June 2009 and October 2011 Lowe charged Medicaid for services that were not provided. At the time, he was caring for his grandmother. This past June Lowe pleaded pleaded guilty to one count of making a false claim to the Medicaid program. He was sentenced last week.
