Silver Alert cancelled for Benedict Gerstner

TOPEKA (KSNT) – A Silver Alert has been cancelled after the body of a man was found Thursday morning leading police to conduct an investigation on the suspicious death.

On August 13th, Lexington Park Assisted Living Staff noted 65-year-old Benedict Gerstner was gone from their facility. A missing persons report was issued on August 15th which was upgraded to a Silver Alert on August 17th.

Around 10 a.m. Thursday, a body was discovered in the 1000 block of Fleming Court just two blocks west of SW 10th and Gage. Someone close to him identified the man as Benedict Gerstne. Topeka Police sent a release just before 11 a.m. saying that next of kin have been notified and the Silver Alert has been cancelled.

Police say cause of death is still under investigation at this time.
