TOPEKA (KSNT) — Detective with the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office are trying to identify those responsible for several vandalism incidents in Topeka as the crime of the week.
During the overnight hours between Aug. 9 and 10, an unknown person or unknown people vandalized numerous mailboxes in the area of NW Kansas Ave. and NW 35th St.
In addition to other acts of criminal vandalism, those living in the area had mailboxes pulled out of the ground and smashed. Several had mailboxes thrown through their car windows and one had some of their lawn art thrown through car windows.
About 20 residents were victims of these criminal damage crimes.
Anyone who might know the identify of the person responsible is asked to call or text Crime Stoppers. Information that leads to an arrest of the person or people responsible is worth a reward of up to $2,000.
