1 suspect arrested in vehicle burglary incident

TOPEKA (KSNT) — Topeka police were called shortly after midnight to the 3300 block of Medford Court concerning a report of a vehicle burglary and a firearm being discharged.

The vehicle owner observed the crime occurring and confronted the suspect. When the suspect advanced toward the vehicle owner, a single shot was fired into the ground to stop the advance. The suspect ran to the west where he got into a pick-up driven by second suspect.

The suspect’s vehicle was later observed in the Hi-Crest area and, after a short pursuit, the suspects stopped and attempted to elude officers on foot. A short time later both suspects, adult males, were apprehended and taken to police headquarters for questioning.

One of those suspects was taken into custody: Donald Tyrome Marks, 52, of Topeka.

All items stolen from the victim’s vehicle were recovered. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
