Murder-suicide suspected in Hays couple’s death

HAYS (KSNT) – Murder-suicide is suspected in the death of two people from Hays.

Last Thursday August 20, the Hays Police Department took a missing person’s report involving 64-year-old Steven Little and 62-year-old Kathleen Little, both residents of Hays.

At 9:00 Friday night Webster State Park Manager, Zach Kesler located Little’s vehicle at the Goose Flats campground on the south side of Webster Reservoir.

Manager Kesler approached the vehicle and discovered both were deceased. The Investigation is being conducted by the Rooks County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism and the Hays Police Department.

An autopsy was conducted on Saturday and preliminary findings indicated that both died from a single gunshot wound, with no other blunt trauma or injuries being found.

Preliminary investigation indicates a murder-suicide and no other suspects or persons are believed to be involved.

The Hays Police Department says no other information will be released at this time.
