TOPEKA (KSNT) – County employees in the Kansas Public Employee Retirement System will have the opportunity to better understand their benefits as part of an upcoming webinar. Controversy over the future of KPERS and changes to the system have made headlines. Now, the executive director, Alan Conroy, is joining the Kansas Association of Counties for what they’re calling a “fact-filled” webinar on the topic.
Conroy will go through each coverage group: KPERS 1, 2, and 3. During the 2015 legislative session, restrictions were imposed on KPERS retirees who re-enter the workforce while receiving pension benefits. Controy will address what those changes actually mean for you. He will also anticipate what potential changes could be considered during the 2016 legislative session. He will answer county employees questions during the hour-long online event.
The cost is $25. The KAC points out that county employees will be able to watch the presentation and ask questions without the cost and time of travel to a meeting site. Also, the program counts as one (1) elective credit for the KAC’s Foundations in County Government leadership program.
