TOPEKA (KSNT) – 2014 was a great year for the Hayden Wildcats. Head coach Bill Arnold, who’s entering his 9th season at Hayden, led the Wildcats into the Class 4A DI state championship game. Hayden lost to Bishop Miege 42-35 at Hummer Sports Park.
Despite losing a large number of seniors, don’t expect Hayden’s performance on the field to slide. The Wildcats know they’ll have a target on their backs in the Centennial League.
“It’s been a work in progress,” said Arnold. “They’re a group that obviously had a good senior class in front of them, but I think as time goes on, they’ll get it.”
“It’s a brotherhood,” said Hayden senior linebacker/running back Brooks Peavler. “We come out every day and work hard and we just try our best, and we have a great tradition here.”
“Every Monday through Thursday we’ve got to work hard,” said Hayden senior running back/defensive back Connor Schumacher. “Make sure we know our assignments, and focus. Focusing is the main thing.”
Hayden begins its 2015 season on Friday September 4th at Seaman.
