Man charged in pursuit in which KC officer fired shots

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A Kansas City man has been charged with trying to ram an officer, leading to gunfire.

Four felonies were filed Saturday in Jackson County Circuit Court against 21-one-year-old Pierre Hill-Williams. He was arrested Friday after a pursuit that ended with the discovery that a 1-year-old girl had been shot in the foot.

The probable cause statement says the incident started when a driver sped away from an attempted traffic stop.

The officer didn’t pursue the car, but upon spotting the car later, the driver sped toward the officer. The probable cause statement says the officer dropped his motorcycle and fired. The car hit the motorcycle and sped away.

A witness says Hill-Williams knocked on her door, seeking help for the wounded girl. Hill-Williams told authorities he wasn’t behind the wheel.
