KANSAS CITY, MO (KSNT/AP) – Kansas City, MO’s police chief confirmed late Tuesday night that a shooting and subsequent chase by police ended in one person dying, another in critical condition and six children apparently injured.
Sgt. Kari Thompson tells the Kansas City Star (http://bit.ly/1gpPzBG ) the incident was reported around 9 p.m. Tuesday. Thompson says it appears two vehicles were involved in a rolling gun battle when one struck a third car of innocent bystanders. She says officers found one person dead in the victims’ vehicle and six children hurt. The extent of their injuries wasn’t immediately clear.
The one person injured by gunfire was found at the scene and one person has been arrested in connection with the investigation.
Chief Darryl Forte tweeted just after 9:30 p.m. – ” @ en route to homicide 9th & Hardesty-1shooting vic deceased 1 in critical condition. Several kids in vehicle hurt when car crashed.”
Forte then tweeted shortly after – “.@ homicide suspect vehicle being pursued by KCPD.Tire deflation device struck by suspect’s vehicle. I anticipate quick apprehension.”
