Lowery sentenced to life for murder of Topeka bride

Booked in to Shawnee County Jail for First Degree Murder 05/25/14

TOPEKA (KSNT) — Shawnee County District Attorney Chad Taylor announced Thursday that Judge Nancy Parrish sentenced Awnterio Lowery to Life in prison.

He was given that sentence for his First Degree Murder conviction related to the May 2014 death of Tiffany Davenport-Ray.

Parrish also sentenced Lowery to a tern of 620 months for the Attempted First Degree Murder of Melvin Ray, which was ordered to be served consecutively.

Lowery was also convicted of: Possession of Drugs, Criminal Discharge of a Firearm at an Occupied Dwelling or Vehicle, and misdemeanor drug-related charges.

Lowery was convicted after a three week trial before a Shawnee County Jury. The District Attorney expressed his gratitude “to the members of the jury for their hard work during the trial of the case, the families of the victims for their cooperation, and the Topeka Police Department for their tireless investigation.”
