WASHINGTON (DC) – While his address to Congress is generating all the buzz Thursday, Pope Francis also has another very important stop on his agenda to help those in need.

It’s a cause close to the Pontiff’s heart. He’ll leave Congress around 11:15 a.m. and head to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington in the northwest part of the district. It serves the city’s neediest people.

In keeping with the Pope’s years of service in shanty towns and prisons, he’ll help feed the city’s hungriest people.

Catholic charity leaders are looking forward to the Pope’s arrival.

“The Pope will be right here, right in this spot speaking to 400 people or so who will be here to be fed and served that day. He comes to lift us up, and we’ve tried out best to lift him up as well through our Walk with Francis,” said Msgr. John Enzler, DC Catholic Charities CEO.

Walk with Francis is a program with three steps; serve, act and pray.
