Teenagers injured after truck hits tree

LYON COUNTY, Kan. (KSNT) — On Friday around 10 a.m., the Lyon County EMS, District 5 first responders, and Lyon County Sheriff’s Office went to the area of Road T and Road 120 “for an injury accident.”

Those involved in the injury accident had been transported to that location by a private vehicle.

However, the accident itself happened in the 1100 block of Road W in Lyon County, when a 2007 Nissan Frontier left the road while going north on Road W and struck a large tree.

The driver, 16-year-old Taylor McDougal of Burlington, and her passenger, 13-year-old Breea McManus of Burlington, were ultimately transported to Newman Regional Hospital in Emporia for non-life-threatening injuries.

Both McDougal and McManus were wearing their seatbelts. McDougal was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
