Accidents keep Topeka Police busy

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Two people were injured in a midday wreck at 17th and South Kansas Avenue. Topeka Police report a speeding car headed south ran a stop light at 17th street and slammed into the driver’s side of another car. Two people in the southbound car took off on foot after the wreck. The driver was caught soon after but his passenger had not been located immediately. Both drivers were hospitalized. The wreck was reported at approximately 12:15pm.

No injuries were reported after another accident about a half an hour later in southwest Topeka. The accident happened at around 12:45 just west of 29th and Fairlawn. We’re told everyone involved is okay. The wreck caused one of the vehicles to roll on its side. Topeka police had to re-route traffic for a time while wrecker trucks hauled the SUV”s away. All who were involved in the accident refused medical treatment.
