Kansas Democratic Party elects new Chair

SALINA (KSNT) — On Saturday afternoon, delegates of the Kansas Democratic Party met to elect a new Chair.

Lee Kinch, a Derby attorney and activist, was elected to be the new Chair of the Party. Kinch formerly served in the role of Vice Chair of the Kansas Democratic Party under Joan Wagnon, as well as Sedgwick County Democratic Party Chair.

Kinch was nominated by Senate Democratic Leader Anthony Hensley and elected unanimously by the body.

Kansas Democratic Party Executive Director, Kerry Gooch made a statement: “Lee Kinch has remained a political icon and a pillar of the Kansas Democratic Party for much of his lifetime, and we are honored to have him continue his service to our state through the official role of Chairman. As we look ahead to the 2016 Election, we are confident in the vast leadership experience possessed by our new Chair.”
