KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KSNT) — A Jackson County Sheriff’s Office most wanted fugitive was captured Wednesday afternoon in Kansas City, Mo.
Fifty-six-year-old Jerry Dean Curlee, also known as “Papa Smurf,” was taken into custody in KCMO on in a cooperative effort between the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals of the Western District of Missouri. Jackson County Detectives were been in KCMO this week attempting to locate him.
Curlee had been out on bond for a felony DUI case and was being monitored by an electronic ankle bracelet. He allegedly removed the bracelet, fled the area, and was subsequently added to the most wanted list.
Further charges on Curlee are anticipated, says the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
