TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Topeka school district celebrated a major event Friday.
It was for the groundbreaking of a elementary school.
Leaders from the Topeka 501 district were on hand for the first step in building the new elementary school.
When it opens two years from now, students from the current Bishop, Avondale West and Shaner Elementary schools will all go to class here.
The new school is being connected to Jardine Middle School – the third pre-kindergarten to 8th grade campus in the district.
The money to build it was approved by voters in 2014.
