TOPEKA (KSNT) — The town of Rossville is bringing the legends of baseball to life by lending their own Joe Campbell Stadium for a scene in a baseball documentary.
Residents of the town sat in as extras for the movie that’s about baseball teams in the early 1900s. But according to director Mark Honer, the movie isn’t so focused on players of the era who made it to the big leagues.
“Give a little more love to the players who never made it to the majors,” he says. “These guys who just worked and tooled, but they loved the game so much they just wanted to play.”
Honer says that he hopes to wrap up filming by next baseball season and plans on releasing it in select theaters across Kansas.
