Local businesses have creative ways to capitalize on Royals mania

TOPEKA (KSNT) – While the Royals are looking for a homerun at the World Series, local businesses are looking at a homerun for their bottom line.

From big chains to mom and pops stores, businesses are capitalizing on Royals mania in several different ways.

Of course, bars and restaurants are expecting to see a boost, but some of these businesses are getting creative by sporting the Royals logo on their goods.

Billy Vanilly Owner Allyson Fiander says that she got the idea to decorate her cupcakes after watching one of the games.

“The moment that we watched the game we said, “We got to do something great,” she said. “It’s fun.”

Gayla Kirk also sports the logo on her sugar cookies and expects to sell up to 20 times more cookies than the off-season.

“We do them all year round because there’s a lot of fans here in Topeka but we do a lot more during the baseball season,” she says. “We’ll be doing more this week since the Royals are going to the World Series.”
