AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — Officials say a Georgia woman’s conjoined twins are in critical condition after being delivered at an Augusta hospital.
In a statement, Georgia Regents Medical Center tells media outlets that their mother, 26-year-old Brittany Crafton, is listed in good condition. The twin boys were delivered by C-section on Monday.
The hospital says the twins, who share a heart and liver, are in the neonatal intensive care unit at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia, which adjoins Georgia Regents.
Dr. Paul Browne, a maternal and fetal medicine specialist at Georgia Regents, said weeks before the delivery that the boys’ heart appeared to be in good shape.
The hospital says the twins are the first conjoined birth at the medical center.
