POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY (KSNT) — A shooting suspect is in custody after a nearly four hour manhunt for a suspect outside Manhattan.
The suspect has been identified as 18-year-old Dakota Fair. Pottawatomie County Sheriff Greg Riat says a male victim was shot just before 5:00 p.m. near Lake Elbo Road on Tuesday.
The victim, whose name hasn’t been released at this time, was found bleeding from a gunshot wound and was life-flighted to a Topeka hospital. Before being flown, he was able to provide deputies with Fair’s name as the man who shot him.
After the victim’s tip, the Sheriff’s Office searched in the area west of Louisville and also received reports from the public on the whereabouts of Fair. At about 8:30 p.m., Fair was taken into custody at his home off of Cannonball Road in Louisville. Fair was taken to the Pottawatomie County Jail where he is being held for attempted murder.
While searching for Fair, deputies also learned that he had a female passenger with him in his vehicle at the time of the shooting. She was also interviewed by deputies at the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office in regard to the shooting. The sheriff’s office didn’t specify whether she was also charged with anything related to the shooting.
Riat says at this time no other suspects are believed to be involved.
