NEMAHA COUNTY (KSNT) – A Kansas woman was killed and three children (believed to be her kids) were injured in an accident Thursday morning in Nemaha County involving a semi and a Van around 9:00 a.m.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that the semi, driven by 63-year-old Wayne Mowery of LaCygne was westbound on U.S. 36 at W Rd. and a 2004 Chevrolet G3500 Van driven by 37-year-old Rebecca Lynne Chrismas, of Wetmore, was southbound. KHP says the Van failed to yield at a stop sign at W Road, causing the semi to strike the Van.

Crismas was pronounced dead at 11:30 a.m. Three children ages 11, 3 and 1 were in the vehicle with her. The 11year-old and the 1-year-old were taken to Children’s Mercy and the 3-year-old was taken to a Sabetha hospital.

The driver of the semi was taken to a Topeka hospital with minor injuries.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says everyone in both vehicles were wearing a seat belt.
