TOPEKA (KSNT) – Every Kansas City Chiefs fan knows the sound of the Tomahawk Chop when they hear it.
Even if they aren’t at the game.
That iconic sound echoed through Skinny’s Sports Bar Saturday night while fans watched the last half of the Chiefs’ 30-0 blowout playoff win against the Houston Texans.
“We’re very enthusiastic,” said Amy Wilson.
Wilson, who was at the last playoff game the Chiefs won, was in the group that started the chop.
“It’s painful and we watch every year,” Wilson said about the 22 year wait. “We just hope and support our team and we knew it’s in there. We have best defense; we’re awesome.”
Wilson is such a fan, she stopped the interview to celebrate another Chiefs’ touchdown with high fives and the chop.
In a sea of red, on a day like this, old favorite names like Derek Thomas could be seen on jerseys next to newer ones.
For Jarrett Davis, 11, he enjoyed watching his favorite player Alex Smith.
“They’ve done really good,” he said about his favorite team. “He is a good quarterback.”
And now with one win under their belt, what will the fans do?
“We’re going to celebrate bug time because this is just one step closer to our goal which is the Super Bowl,” Wilson said. “We’re already planning a big party. We know we’re going to go.”
