TOPEKA (KSNT) — The 2015 Kansas City Royals World Series trophy is heading to Topeka.
Washburn Athletics announced on Thursday that Washburn University’s Lee Arena will host the Kansas City Royals World Series Trophy Tour on Feb. 24 from 6 to 8 p.m.
The tour, presented by Missouri and Kansas Lottery, will embark on visits to communities throughout the Midwest. In conjunction with participating sponsors Academy Sports + Outdoors, Pepsi and Planet Fitness, the trophy will make several stops in cities across the Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska.
Fans can see the trophy in person at each stop during the specified two-hour period on a first-come, first-served basis. In order to accommodate as many people as possible, photo opportunities will only be available as either an individual or group shot. Fans will have the opportunity to have a professional photo taken and can purchase those photos onsite and online at royals.com. A portion of all onsite professional photos purchases benefit Royals Charities.
The trophy will be joined by KayCee, the Kansas City baseball character who hangs the iconic “W” on the Royals Hall of Fame after each Royals home win at Kauffman Stadium. In addition, mascot Sluggerr will appear at select stops. Fans attending the Trophy Tour stops can also sample Diet Cherry Pepsi courtesy of Pepsi Cola.
A schedule of Trophy Tour stops are also available at www.royals.com/trophytour.
