Man convicted in 1984 Shawnee County murder dies in Lansing prison

TOPEKA (KSNT) – An inmate convicted in a Shawnee County murder in 1984 has died according to Lansing Correctional Facility.

A medical emergency was called at Lansing Correctional Facility at 2:47 Monday afternoon after inmate Charles Strauch was found unresponsive in his living unit. He was pronounced dead at 3:22 p.m.

Strauch was convicted for the murder of 42-year-old Lily Ledford in Shawnee County in 1984.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation was notified of the inmate’s death in accordance with state law and is conducting an investigation. No further information has been released at this time.
