Monday afternoon Emporia crash leaves one dead

TOPEKA (KSNT) – An Emporia woman was killed Monday afternoon after she was ejected from a truck.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and Emporia / Lyon County Ambulance were called to Road F and Road 150 at 3:49 p.m. on a report of an injury accident.

According to a press release from the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, 40 year-old Gregory Graham, of Strong City, Kansas, was driving a gray, 1995 Ford F-150 southbound.

He rolled the vehicle into the east ditch after travelling off the roadway into the west ditch.

A passenger in the truck, identified as 67 year-old Sharon Prochaska of Emporia, Kansas, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on scene.

Graham was transported to Newman Regional Health with non-life threatening injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office says neither occupants were wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

The accident remains under investigation.
