One person dead after being struck by car in Manhattan

MANHATTAN (KSNT) – The Riley County Police Department said one person died Tuesday night after they were hit by a car.

Ruby Johnson, 93, of Manhattan, died at Via Christi Hospital, according to police. Around 5:20 p.m., Johnson was in a “private parking lot” at 930 Poyntz Avenue when she fell and was hit by the front tire of a 2010 Cadillac SRX driven by a 34-year-old woman.

In the press release, police did not release the name of the driver. No criminal report has been filed but the incident is still under investigation.

“At this time,” the release said, “police (do not) anticipate any arrests to be made or citations to be issued.”
