TOPEKA (KSNT) — Crews responded Tuesday night just after 9:30 p.m. to a driver that had drove their car through a guardrail just north of Silver Lake.

The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office, Kansas Highway Patrol, Silverlake Fire Department and AMR responded to the accident at the east curve of NW 46th Street and Hoch Road.

According to a press release from the Shawnee County Law Enforcement Center, a gold passenger car was being driven by a teenager southbound on NW Hoch Road and failed to navigate the curve.

The car went straight through the guardrail and into a heavily wooded area about 100 feet away from the road.

The driver was identified as 15-year-old Timothy W. Nesbitt, of Silver Lake and a student at Silver Lake High School. He was transported to a Topeka area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

It is believed Nesbitt was wearing their seat belt.

According to the press release, the accident is still under investigation.
