TOPEKA (KSNT) — This weekend, the NAIA Wrestling National Championships will be in Landon Arena for the third year. But for the first time in NAIA history, the event will be livestreamed on ESPN3.
The 10 matches begin at 7 p.m. (CST) on Saturday.
The Kansas Expocentre’s video production crew will be supplying the video and signal for ESPN3, which will distribute it nationally.
“This is quite a thrill for the Expocentre,” said Phil Thompson, Expocentre Marketing Manager and Supervising Video Producer. “We’ve been doing live video production during arena events for nearly six years, but this is the first time we’ve originated content for a major network.”
The channel is available in 99 million homes that receive internet service from an affiliate provider. 21 million U.S. college students and U.S.-based military personal can watch for free via the internet on campuses and military bases.
“Our crew is excited to be producing an event for a national audience,” added Thompson. “Kudos to Visit Topeka for making this happen with ESPN3.”
The first session is Friday at 10 a.m., the second is Friday at 6 p.m., and the third is Saturday at 10 a.m. The championships begin at 7 p.m.
