TOPEKA (KSNT) — The city of Topeka is asking local businesses to let Topeka USD 501 students use their wireless internet for free.
According to a press release from the city, middle and high school students in the city who don’t have internet access at home need safe locations where they can use WiFi.
Business owners within a half mile of any USD 501 secondary school that want to share their internet for free can contact Monique Glaudé at firstname.lastname@example.org or 368-4470 by March 25.
Participating business owners will get a decal to stick on a window of their building. Students will recognize the symbol and know they can connect to the internet. The business will also be added to an interactive map on the city’s and the USD 501 administration’s websites.
The program will be announced to students in the first week of April.
