MANHATTAN (KSNT) – A Kansas State University researcher is developing a crash prediction model for rural highways with the Kansas Department of Transportation.

Syeda Rubaiyat Aziz says she hopes to save even a single life but expects the results may do much more. Aziz is using google maps and K-DOT video logs to examine various factors at each roadway segment and intersection. She’s already developed a new Kansas-specific crash prediction tool. K-DOT will use the final research to re-adjust the model for future projects. The research is funded by K-DOT.
