Emporia State holds annual spring football game

EMPORIA, Kan. – The Black team defeated the White team 10-0 in front of over 1500 fans at the Emporia State Spring Football Game at Welch Stadium on Saturday. The game consisted of two quarters, one with a running clock.

All-American Austin Morton hit a 39 yard field for the first points of the game while Trent Reitzke had a seven yard touchdown run. Mitchell Foote caught a 42 yard touchdown from Braxton Marstall as time expired to end the first period but it was called back on a holding call.

Between the two quarters members of the 2015 Senior class was recognized for going 11-3 last year and 34-14 in their four year careers.

The Hornets will open the 2016 season on September 1 against defending National Champion Northwest Missouri in a rematch of the 2015 Super Region-3 Championship game.
