TOPEKA (KSNT) — On Thursday, there was an officer-involved shooting in Topeka and on Saturday the suspect was identified.
Police say officers conducted a traffic stop on Thursday afternoon in the 700 block of SW Taylor St. The driver battered the officer during the traffic stop, which caused injuries to the officer’s hand and arm. The suspect then attempted to flee the scene. The suspect made it to the 100 block of NW Quinton Ave. when the officer shot the suspect and took him into custody.
On Saturday, the suspect was identified as 24-year-old Topekan Dyllon Tucker. He was taken to the Department of Corrections and is being held without bond for aggravated battery to a law enforcement officer, felony fleeing and eluding, and felony obstruction.
Both the suspect and the officer were initially taken to local hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The Topeka police officer was treated and released Thursday.
The Douglas County District Attorney’s Office and the Lawrence Police Department will continue to help the Shawnee County District Attorney’s Office and the Topeka Police Department in the investigation.
