TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) — Engines will be revving up tomorrow evening as the first night of Capital City Carnage gets underway. This first-time event will take place Friday at 6 p.m., and Saturday at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
While Capital City Carnage may be making its debut at the Expocentre, creator Sam Williams is no stranger to the facilities. Williams also puts on the Blizzard Bash demolition derby, which has been taking place at the Expocentre each November for the past six years. Because Blizzard Bash has been wildly successful, he wanted to give demolition derby lovers another opportunity to experience the excitement.
“We’ve had a great time coming back to the Expo every year for Blizzard Bash,” said Williams. “Since its success keeps growing, I wanted to design an event specifically for Landon Arena.”
With $30,000 at stake, this will be the largest paying demolition derby in the United States. Hundreds of the best drivers and car builders from across the nation will be competing to win the ultimate prize.
“Thanks to a generous donation from Visit Topeka and our relationship with the Expo, we were able to make Capital City Carnage happen. We’re looking forward to a great turnout,” Williams said.
Tickets are still available for all shows. They can be purchased at http://www.ticketmaster.com or the Expocentre box office.
Capital City Carnage will also be available via pay-per-view. The web stream will feature behind-the-scenes clips, interviews and commentary from the nationally-recognized podcast “The Crash Course.” Friday and Saturday night is $15 for each session, Saturday morning is $5 and an all-weekend pass is $30.
